I joined Clydehurst full-time in August 2025 after six years of teaching, most recently in Manhattan, MT. But camp has been part of my life for a while. I spent a summer as a crew boy and parts of three summers as a counselor before stepping into teaching and finally my current role.
What’s kept me connected all these years is pretty simple: the people. I still remember showing up my first summer as a crew boy and my oldest brother telling me, “These will be the kindest people you’ll ever meet.” He was right. A lot of the people I’ve worked with here have become close friends. I’ve stood at their weddings, and I even met my wife at camp.
July 4th has always been my favorite tradition. My wife and I celebrated it at Clydehurst for the past few years as guests, so getting to experience it now as full-time staff feels especially exciting. I’ll miss the annual staff trips to Blue Lake, but there’s just something about the energy of the Fourth at camp that’s hard to top.
If I weren’t here, I’d probably still be teaching in Manhattan, a season I genuinely loved. Outside of work, I’m usually watching Montana State football (2025 State and National Champions!) spending time outdoors with friends and family, attempting to keep my toddler happy, and telling myself this might finally be the year I learn how to fish, once I figure out the patience part.
