I officially joined Clydehurst full-time in August 2025, after six years of teaching most recently in Manhattan, Montana. But my history with camp goes back further — I was a crew boy for a summer and a counselor for parts of three summers.
What I love most about camp are the people! When I first started as a nervous crew boy, my oldest brother told me, “These will be the kindest people you’ll ever meet.” He was right. Many of the people I’ve worked with have become some of my closest friends, I’ve been honored to attend several of their weddings, and I even met my wife at camp.
July 4th has always been my favorite camp tradition. My wife and I have celebrated it at Clydehurst the last few years as guests, and now, being full-time staff makes it extra special. While I’ll miss the annual staff trips to Blue Lake, there’s something about the excitement of July 4th at Clydehurst that can’t be beat.
If I weren’t at camp, I’d still be teaching in Manhattan, a season I loved deeply. Outside of work, I enjoy watching football (Go Cats!), spending time outdoors with friends and family, and I’ve been dreaming of learning to fish, though I need to work on my patience first.
