I’ve been around Clydehurst for a long time. Fifteen years in this stretch, but really my story here started way before that. I came as a kid and ended up spending eight summers here as a crewboy, a counselor, and finally as a program director. Somehow camp just kept becoming part of my life. A lot of who I am and a lot of the people closest to me trace back to this place.
What keeps me here is pretty simple: the people. Camp has this way of taking a random group of staff and campers and turning them into something that feels like family. It’s hard to explain unless you’ve experienced it, but it’s real.
When I was younger, I was all about being active; volleyball, basketball, horses, swimming, hiking. If it involved moving, I was in. These days, I still love all of that, but I’ve come to appreciate the slower moments more, good conversations, sitting outside, just taking in the mountains and being with whoever’s around.
Outside of camp, I’m usually with family, keeping up with sports, traveling when I can, or listening to music. And if camp hadn’t worked out… I’m sure the Denver Broncos would’ve found a way to make room for me at quarterback.
